Aemilia Varfis
Aemilia is based in Athens and is responsible for developing Sodali’s business in France, Greece and in South-East Europe.
Before moving to Athens, she was a Director of the Corporate Advisory group of Georgeson in Europe. She joined Georgeson in 2000 as a member of the European business development team and focused on corporate transactional advice and execution. Aemilia was part of the initial team that pioneered shareholder response advisory in Europe; her areas of expertise included proxy solicitation, mergers and acquisitions, shareholder activism, shareholder and bondholder ownership analysis and corporate governance.
In 2003, Aemilia was transferred to Paris for three years, as president of Georgeson’s French office, where she was instrumental in increasing the local client base, getting involved in both annual routine projects as well as most major M&A transactions that took place within that time. She has been involved in several transactions in support of Boards being threatened with shareholder resolutions in relation to Board proposals. Following her successful experience in Western Europe, in 2005 she introduced shareholder response services to issuers in Greece and Cyprus.
Aemilia holds an MA in Fashion Studies majoring in Marketing and Management and a BA Hons in International Business.
