Leo Goldschmidt
A banker for most of his life, Leo holds independent directorships in a number of companies and societies, including ECGI (European Corporate Governance Institute). He chairs the Corporate Governance Committee of EASD, serves on the OECD Corporate Governance Task Force, takes part in World Bank-OECD Round Table work in Russia, South-East Europe, Latin America and Asia and gives lectures on corporate governance in various countries. Leo also endowed his University with a chair on corporate governance. He began his banking career in the fifties at the Société Belge de Banque and continued at Banque du Benelux where he became Director and General Manager. In 1970, he was named Managing Partner of Banque Degroof, in charge of its investment banking activities. He also served as chairman of the Belgian Banks Association, as a board member of the European Federation of Banks, and as a director or executive committee member of various public institutions. He graduated from the Solvay Business School of Brussels University.
